The Race

Volcano 100 Miles is a free rhythm race without stops, 160 km. An adventure in Semi-Self-sufficiency format where each competitor must carry a backpack containing the mandatory equipment, food and personal equipment. (See mandatory material.) This race takes place in Costa Rica, sharing part of the main Volcano UltraMarathon tour that will take you to discover the wildest and most unknown areas of Costa Rica.

Catarata Chindama

This waterfall located in the area of Guápiles, is one of the most impressive and unknown. The runners will be able to enjoy this wonder from their viewpoint and contemplate its impressive waterfall.

Volcán Turrialba

The Turrialba Volcano forms a single system in conjunction with the Irazú Volcano. It is an oval-shaped stratovolcano and its formation is due to explosive and effusive lava events, it has three craters with the presence of castings on its flanks. The runners will sleep at the end of the stage just 800m from their crater, an experience.

Lagunas de Bonilla

A set of two lagoons known as Laguna de Bonilla and La Bonillita forming a hidden group in the middle of nature and under the Turrialba volcano being a hidden paradise of Turrialba.

Bosque Quemado

The corridors will enter the foothills of the Turrialba Volcano, to learn more about the impact zone and the ravages that acid rain, ash fall and lava flows on the slopes and farms of the Turrialba Volcano have made. Farmers call it the "Burned Forest" for the desolate landscape of nature and the ancient town of Silvia, which looks like a horror movie.

Jaguar Sanctuary

This protected sanctuary is one of the conservation and study areas of big cats like the Jaguar. The runners will travel the last kilometers into the jungle and live a unique experience.

Río Reventazón

It is one of the most important within the province of Cartago and Limón, which is one of the natural points. It was of great importance to be able to house near the first settlements of Costa Rica. In this area you can enjoy rain throughout the year and pleasant temperature throughout the year.
